Installing the agent

One binary, no dependency, outbound only. You need a seat (beta programme or subscription), an account on this site and the parc key shown in your account when you create a parc: it is displayed once, copy it then.

Before you start

  • In your account, create your organisation and a parc: the parc key (AYT-…) is shown once, copy it. A parc groups the machines of one site or one customer; its key enrols up to the number of machines of your seat.
  • Download the binary for the system and compare its SHA-256 with the one shown above: the binaries are not code-signed yet.
  • Nothing to open on the firewall: the agent only connects out, over HTTPS, to watch.aytechnet.net. Each machine signs its reports with a key generated on first start; the private key never leaves the machine.

Installation on Windows

  • Create the folder C:\Program Files\Aytechnet and put aymond.exe in it. If SmartScreen asks, choose "More info" then "Run anyway".
  • In PowerShell as administrator, in that folder: check the file, install the service with your parc key, check the service. The machine appears in your account within two minutes; the service runs as LocalSystem (what reads SMART and Veeam).
Get-FileHash .\aymond.exe -Algorithm SHA256
.\aymond.exe install -key AYT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Get-Service aymond

Update on Windows

  • Download the new aymond.exe, replace the file in the folder, then as administrator:
  • The machine's identity (ProgramData\Aytechnet\aymond) and its settings are kept.
.\aymond.exe update

Uninstallation on Windows

  • As administrator, remove the service, then delete the folder and ProgramData\Aytechnet. Then press "Forget" on the machine in your account: its data is deleted with it.
.\aymond.exe remove

Installation on Linux

  • As root: check the file, put the binary in /usr/local/bin, create the service account, write the systemd unit with your parc key, enable it, read the first lines of its log. The machine appears in your account within two minutes; the service runs as the aymond account.

aymond -systemd -key AYT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX > /etc/systemd/system/aymond.service
systemctl daemon-reload && systemctl enable --now aymond
journalctl -u aymond -n 20

Update on Linux

  • Download the new binary, replace it, restart the unit. The machine's identity (/var/lib/aymond) and its settings are kept.
install -m 0755 aymond /usr/local/bin/aymond && systemctl restart aymond

Uninstallation on Linux

  • Disable the unit, delete the binary and /var/lib/aymond. Then press "Forget" on the machine in your account.
systemctl disable --now aymond && rm -f /etc/systemd/system/aymond.service /usr/local/bin/aymond && rm -rf /var/lib/aymond

From your account

  • Thresholds, acknowledgements and the checks to skip are set per machine; the agent applies them within a minute.
  • A reinstalled or renamed machine must be forgotten first, then enrolled again. A parc whose seat is full refuses a new machine: write to us to extend it.
